Boosting Organizational Productivity with OmniFocus and GTD

In a recent conversation on The Omni Show, I had the opportunity to reflect on the ongoing role this system plays in helping me remain focused, organized, and aligned with the work that matters most.

A System That Stands the Test of Time

Throughout my career, I have depended on a structured productivity system to support clarity, focus, and effective decision-making. After more than twenty years of using David Allen’s Getting Things Done (GTD) approach, what started as a straightforward task management solution has developed into a comprehensive system that informs my daily decision-making and supports effective collaboration across Arkus.

From Task Management to Strategic Thinking

Whether conducting a brief daily check-in or a comprehensive long-term review, I rely on OmniFocus to maintain clarity, direction, and momentum with GTD methodology in both my personal and professional life.

At Arkus, GTD has become an integral part of our organizational culture. It provides a shared structure that allows our team to communicate priorities, manage projects more effectively, and maintain focus in the midst of competing demands. As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the modern workplace, having a clear and consistent tool like OmniFocus in place helps ensure that our work remains grounded in purpose rather than driven by distraction.

During this Omni Show episode, I discussed several of the features that have proven most valuable to me over the years, including custom perspectives and the power of review view. I also shared a few personal stories, such as how my daughter’s approach to studying reminded me of the power of a thoughtfully designed productivity system.

Previously, I’d taken part in other interviews for the GTD podcast, including Episode #261: Slice of GTD Life: Jason Atwood

A Lasting Framework for Growth

The combination of GTD and OmniFocus remains a powerful foundation for managing complexity and staying focused in a rapidly changing world. These tools not only support individual effectiveness but also enable stronger collaboration and alignment across teams. Whether you are new to structured productivity systems or have been refining your own for years, I hope this conversation encourages you to revisit your tools, reflect on your processes, and consider how thoughtful structure can bring clarity to your work and life.
