New Visions for Public Schools
Founded in 1989, New Visions is dedicated to improving the quality of education that children receive in New York City's public schools using three key strategies - school creation, school support and human capital development.
Throughout their 21-year history, they have worked intensively with a core group of schools while fashioning strategies to improve student achievement across the board. Today, with 76 schools serving more than 35,000 students and implementing their own certification programs for teachers and leaders, New Visions supports a network similar in size to some of the nation's largest school districts. They are committed to proving what no urban district has yet to realize: that large numbers of urban students can graduate on time and be successful in college and in the workplace.
